  • New Home Owner = No Free Time

    Hello you wonderful Xanga friends.

I feel like it's been forever since I've been on here and it's only been a month.  So, we moved on the 14th of August and I've not had a moment to breathe since!  Not that I even remember why now.  But for the last couple weeks in August, it was magazine work, then the start of school for Jr.  Unpacking and shopping in the midst of it all.  Still, there's more unpacking to do.  Thank the Lord that I bought this house and I'm not going to be moving (Lord Willing!) for a long long (really really long) time.  Because I hate moving!

And, to make it all that much more fun, I've been sick since last week.  I was going to try and make it to Mimi's on Tuesday to meet up with everyone, but alas, my job was too busy to let me go.

Put in a bunch of other really busy stuff and here I am.  Not being able to access Xanga at work, makes it that much harder to get on here.  I actually started this post 2 days ago and somehow got distracted.  I promise, pictures are coming soon, as soon as I find the camera, cable and batteries!

    missing you all!

  • One More Week...

Well folks, we're down to the wire.  6 more days till closing, 7 more day till moving.  I will officially be a homeowner in 6 days.  Still seems a little hard to believe.  I really should be packing, rather than getting on here and updating, but what can I say...I'm a natural born procrastinator.

I left work a little early today and stopped by the school and enrolled Jr., my baby, my little boy, in middle school.  Don't I feel old?  We thought he was going to be able to take art as an elective, they get 1 elective in 6th grade, but they don't have just an art class.  They have an elective wheel, which is where they take 6 courses throughout the year, each one for 6 weeks.  This way, when they go into 7th and 8th grade with more elective choices, they will have a better idea of what the classes will be like.

The school is nice, considering it's not finished.  It's brand new and they are still doing construction on some of it, but they assured us that they would be finished before the 1st day of school, the 25th.  It's hard to believe that the 25th of August is fast approaching.  I wish I could go back to his age, when summer seemed to last forever.

All in all, we're getting very excited about this move.  Jr is excited to start a new school and live in a new home.  It will be a further drive for me to get to work, but being close to his dad's side of the family will be a plus.  He'll get to spend more time with them, more holiday's etc.

Of course, being the practically OCD person that I am, I've looked at the budget and worked everything out, and even though the mortgage will be about $500 more than the rent I'm currently paying, I still think I'll be able to make a decent dent in my debt month over month.  So my goal is to be out of debt, other than the house, 2 years from now.  I'm just going to have to remind myself of this whenever the urge strikes to spend $2,000 on furniture...like I did this past weekend.

But isn't it pretty? (The set, not the people.  I didn't buy any people for my living room...sorry.)

And, probably my favorite (besides all of the reclining I'm gonna be able to do with 5 different reclining seats in my living room), is the coffee table.  Now, I love the idea of old mansions and manors with their secret passageways and hidden doors and such.  Probably why I'm a fan of the game Clue and Nancy Drew books.  So when I saw this Lift Top Table, I fell in love.  It's great to have the lift part, but the fact that you can have stuff stored under the table top that people wont see unless they lift it...that's great!  Now this isn't the same one I bought, mine's a light oak color and more square on the corners, but the idea is the same.  Hidey compartments under the top on each side along with the drawer at the bottom.  And the matching end tables have drawers too!

The recliner I currently have is going to go in the corner of my new bedroom, by the window, overlooking the backyard.  The perfect spot for me to read, watch tv, do crosswords or my devotional.  The couch, which is about 10 years old and the back is partially broken will get recovered and go in the (technical) formal dining room, which I'm going to line with bookshelves and make a reading room.  Which is a reminder for me that I'm going to have to spend some more money buying bookshelves.  But I think I'll go to IKEA for that.  And I realized I'm going to have to buy another TV, since the TV that was in my workout room here fell off the wall months ago and broke and I need a TV for the workout room at the new house, since it's upstairs.

But pretty much after that I'm going to stop spending money that isn't absolutely necessary.  I think.  I hope.

I probably wont be on much, in this next 2 week period since I will be extremely busy with the procrastinated packing and having Jr and my mom back here, along with my friend Ardra from Denison-Massachusettes-Austin for that week.  It'll be crowded and crazy.

So, Danette & Gena, have fun and safe travels on the beach trip!

Connie, I'll see you Sunday the 17th, just call and firm up the time when it gets closer, and start sending mag stuff my way ASAP so that I can download it and work on it while the movers are packing up the truck. Oh, and check the mag po box, if you haven't recently, for my CD from Chet.

Kim(ding ding), I love you muchos and you call my cell if you need a laugh, cause according to the school counselor, I'm really funny!

Jayme, in case I don't get a chance next weekend, happy early birthday and enjoy a piece of Lemon Cake for me (yum yum!)

I'll post some pictures after we get moved in and the place isn't a total mess.  Oh, and message me your address if you want to get in my address book and you want me in yours and I'll send you back my new address.  Provided I know you.  If you're reading this blog just because you found it by searching some odd term such as "Buying People" then forget it.  You wont get my address...ever!  And if you are a friend/subscriber and you're wondering why I'm talking about "Buying People" then you obviously skimmed and need to go back to the beginning and actually read this post!

  • Hellllloooooooooooo!!!!!

Hey everybody!  I know it's been a while since I've been on here.  I read my subs everyday, so I know what you are all up to (and yes Gena...and Jayme, I do know that your birthdays are coming up!).

Jr's in Arkansas with Grumpy and PaPa and he's having such fun.  He's taking karate and loves it.  So, I'm looking into karate classes here for when he gets back.  This week he's taking kids classes at the community college; desktop publishing, Spanish and a Wilderness course.

I've been house hunting still and really didn't want to go through the whole posting about a house only to not get it thing over and over.

Soooo, I'm here to say that I have officially found a house that I love, I put an offer in, we haggled back and forth, we came to an agreement and today I had the inspection done.

There were a few minor things that we are going to ask them to repair but they are not deal breakers, so either way, come August 13th, 2008...I will be a first time home owner.  woo hoo!

I'll post pictures after the current owners have moved out their stuff.  But it's 2,356 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath with a half story game room area upstairs.  The master bedroom is 19x13 which is great because I've been spoiled by having a large master bedroom (18x14) for the last 4 1/2 years.

It's on the corner of the street, so it's got a little bit bigger yard in front, and a nice mid-sized backyard.  It's also around the corner from my sister-in-law, so Jr will be close by family and I wont have to worry about him coming home to an empty house in the afternoons when school gets out, because he can go to her house.  She's super excited because after having 2 children in 2 years she's looking to work out with someone who she knows (or at least thinks) will keep her on track.  And I sure wouldn't mind the accountability either!

My new job is going well.  2 weeks will make it 3 months since I started, and that just seems to have flown by.  You wont see me posting much about it though because we have a policy regarding posting information related to work, by blogging and such.  Even if we don't refer to it or anyone else by name so I'm just not going to take a chance!

So, that's what's been up in our world.  The next 27 days are going to creep by I'm sure, unless I don't pack in time and then I'm sure the time will fly by.

So, that's what's going on here!

  • Thanks

Thanks to everyone who emailed, called and left me birthday wishes this week.  I really don't like the fact that I can't access Xanga from work.  I don't go out for lunch (tryin to stay on that Weight Watchers!) so I have an hour in the middle of the day with not a whole lot to do!  bah.

Jr got out of school yesterday and he's with his dad while I road trip with Gena and Danette for the night to see beautiful Sarah marry Mr. Eventually.  Can't wait to get there.  I'm leaving work at noon so that's a plus!

Still waiting on the house thing.  I have a couple more houses I want to look at, then I'm going to wait and see what my updated credit score is (gotta get that lowest rate!) and then we'll hopefully move forward.

That's about all I've got, so I guess I'll go get ready for work.

Oh, and Jayme, I love ya honey and once Jr is "away" for the summer, we can do dinner any night you please!  Cause I miss you too!

Hi Christy, I liked your answer to question 18 ("I don't know-- I wasn't home"). Perfect! I read a bit of your dilemma with the "Christian" and your mom. It really amazes me to discover on occasion that some of the people considering themselves Christian are definitely in a different space. I susp
