Well folks, we're down to the wire. 6 more days till closing, 7 more day till moving. I will officially be a homeowner in 6 days. Still seems a little hard to believe. I really should be packing, rather than getting on here and updating, but what can I say...I'm a natural born procrastinator.
I left work a little early today and stopped by the school and enrolled Jr., my baby, my little boy, in middle school. Don't I feel old? We thought he was going to be able to take art as an elective, they get 1 elective in 6th grade, but they don't have just an art class. They have an elective wheel, which is where they take 6 courses throughout the year, each one for 6 weeks. This way, when they go into 7th and 8th grade with more elective choices, they will have a better idea of what the classes will be like.
The school is nice, considering it's not finished. It's brand new and they are still doing construction on some of it, but they assured us that they would be finished before the 1st day of school, the 25th. It's hard to believe that the 25th of August is fast approaching. I wish I could go back to his age, when summer seemed to last forever.
All in all, we're getting very excited about this move. Jr is excited to start a new school and live in a new home. It will be a further drive for me to get to work, but being close to his dad's side of the family will be a plus. He'll get to spend more time with them, more holiday's etc.
Of course, being the practically OCD person that I am, I've looked at the budget and worked everything out, and even though the mortgage will be about $500 more than the rent I'm currently paying, I still think I'll be able to make a decent dent in my debt month over month. So my goal is to be out of debt, other than the house, 2 years from now. I'm just going to have to remind myself of this whenever the urge strikes to spend $2,000 on furniture...like I did this past weekend.
But isn't it pretty? (The set, not the people. I didn't buy any people for my living room...sorry.)

And, probably my favorite (besides all of the reclining I'm gonna be able to do with 5 different reclining seats in my living room), is the coffee table. Now, I love the idea of old mansions and manors with their secret passageways and hidden doors and such. Probably why I'm a fan of the game Clue and Nancy Drew books. So when I saw this Lift Top Table, I fell in love. It's great to have the lift part, but the fact that you can have stuff stored under the table top that people wont see unless they lift it...that's great! Now this isn't the same one I bought, mine's a light oak color and more square on the corners, but the idea is the same. Hidey compartments under the top on each side along with the drawer at the bottom. And the matching end tables have drawers too!
The recliner I currently have is going to go in the corner of my new bedroom, by the window, overlooking the backyard. The perfect spot for me to read, watch tv, do crosswords or my devotional. The couch, which is about 10 years old and the back is partially broken will get recovered and go in the (technical) formal dining room, which I'm going to line with bookshelves and make a reading room. Which is a reminder for me that I'm going to have to spend some more money buying bookshelves. But I think I'll go to IKEA for that. And I realized I'm going to have to buy another TV, since the TV that was in my workout room here fell off the wall months ago and broke and I need a TV for the workout room at the new house, since it's upstairs.
But pretty much after that I'm going to stop spending money that isn't absolutely necessary. I think. I hope.
I probably wont be on much, in this next 2 week period since I will be extremely busy with the procrastinated packing and having Jr and my mom back here, along with my friend Ardra from Denison-Massachusettes-Austin for that week. It'll be crowded and crazy.
So, Danette & Gena, have fun and safe travels on the beach trip!
Connie, I'll see you Sunday the 17th, just call and firm up the time when it gets closer, and start sending mag stuff my way ASAP so that I can download it and work on it while the movers are packing up the truck. Oh, and check the mag po box, if you haven't recently, for my CD from Chet.
Kim(ding ding), I love you muchos and you call my cell if you need a laugh, cause according to the school counselor, I'm really funny!
Jayme, in case I don't get a chance next weekend, happy early birthday and enjoy a piece of Lemon Cake for me (yum yum!)
I'll post some pictures after we get moved in and the place isn't a total mess. Oh, and message me your address if you want to get in my address book and you want me in yours and I'll send you back my new address. Provided I know you. If you're reading this blog just because you found it by searching some odd term such as "Buying People" then forget it. You wont get my address...ever! And if you are a friend/subscriber and you're wondering why I'm talking about "Buying People" then you obviously skimmed and need to go back to the beginning and actually read this post!
